Could it be a tubal pregnancy?

My boyfriend and I have been trying to get pregnant for a while now. Recently I have been getting extremely sharp pains in my belly maybe 1 1/2 cm left of my belly button. Also these pains come from my lower back through my stomach. Like there are needles being pushed in from my back. My friend had the same symptons about a year ago when her son failed to implant himself in the right place, they somehow successfully moved him he is now 16 months old and is healthy and happy. Could this be the same thing?
