Relationship issues with a man that was rejected by his mother?

My boyfriend is the same , he was rejected by his father and told that he was no son of his. My boyfriend met his dad for the first time in Sept 10 , stayed for 2 weeks at his dads and came home. My boyfriend has BIG troubles with gluing properly. He's always distant with me even when he says he isn't i can feel that he is. The thing i've noticed that , if you leave them because of the problems they have it only makes it worse for the next person. They are generally scared and inseccure of committing due to being hurt again. Men go back into there cave when they are put into a very uncomfortable situation and especially new situations. I found that time was the key. My boyfriend started to open up slowly , but hes getting there. He doesn't talk to me about the problems he has as much as I do with him but im a child from a 2 parent home life and i dont always understand his problems but it does take time and patience and a loving heart to love someone whos scared of reality and pain. Your intuiton sounds right , have you considered that maybe he is just not a commitable boyfriend? Either way talk to him? he may shut down an call you names but he'll get there eventually.
